Introductory Footprint

Description: Outline your own footprint and use a minimum of three different types of media to create different symbol/drawings to describe who you are as a person. Some different ideas for topics can include: favorites, where you are from, hobbies, family, etc. Some symbols that I included to describe me are mountains (to represent my love for hiking), pencil (to represent my major -- elementary education), and stick figures (to represent my sibling and I). The different media that I used included construction paper, crayons, markers, gum wrappers, and a pop tab.

Extension Activity: After creating their footprint, students must choose one of these  symbols and write a few sentences on why this object is the most important to them. I would have students complete this at the beginning of the year as an introductory exercise / thanksgiving (what are you most grateful for) activity. Footprints would then be displayed in the classroom/hallway.
