Dot Day
Description: Create a 'dot' by incorporating the use of different media (watercolor, crayons, Crayola markers, oil pastels, etc.). Students are to interact with the different blendings/resistance of the media on a coffee filter. Students can create any design (patterns, names/words, pictures, etc.), with any colors -- I created a Jack-O-Lantern for my 'dot' as Halloween is coming up.
Extension Activity: Students will write a short story about their coffee filter ghost/pumpkin (can be adjusted to stories about other objects flowers, planets, etc.). Students would be encouraged to use vivid imagery, sensory details by using adjectives and adverbs.
